SEGA once again tapped the talents of longtime Sonic the Hedgehog composer Tomoya Ohtani to compose the music for the recently revealed Sonic Forces. His main theme runs right in line with the rest of the games from the series, and he's stuck to the same style ever since he joined with Sonic Adventure 2 Battle back in 2001.
SEGA revealed the main theme through the official Sonic the Hedgehog YouTube page for all to hear. A version with lyrics will be uploaded as the game's release nears.
Even if Sonic's games aren't always great… man, that music!
The consistency of the Sonic the Hedgehog games is all over the place with some being outstanding and a good many others being either forgettable or just straight up turds. This is a stark contrast to the soundtracks of each game, which are always upbeat, memorable, and carry the same style of fun, turn-of-the-millennium pop rock. Ohtani's return to this latest game in the series is welcome news indeed, and we can only hope and pray that his compatriots Jen Senoue comes with him.
We genuinely need another "City Escape" in our lives right about now.
Sonic Forces will be released for the Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC this holiday season.
