Sling TV

Sling on Tuesday announced that the Sling TV application is now officially available for Xbox One, marking another major milestone for the service that's aiming to woo cord cutters.

As an added bonus, the firm is offering three free months of Sling TV to the first 5,000 customers who purchase a new Xbox One directly from Microsoft – either in store or from the company's site – between March 17 and March 22. Also, all Xbox Live subscribers will receive one month free.

The launch comes along with several new channels that are launching for all Sling TV owners.

The new lineup, which will be available by the end of this March, will be included to subscribers of Sling TV's $20/month "Best of Live TV" core package, the company said. It includes A&E, History, H2 and Lifetime. The firm also announced new add-on packages that can be added to the core package, including a "Lifestyle Extra" package and a "World News Extra" bundle.

The Lifestyle Extra includes content from the Cooking Channel, DIY, We tv and truTV, the firm said, noting that FYI and LMN are "coming soon." The "World News Extra" bundle includes access to Bloomberg TV, Euro News, HLN, NDTV 24/7, Russia Today and News 18.

The new packages will replace an older " News & Info Extra" option, which combined a mix of lifestyle and news content, but both packages will be offered for $5 per month to subscribers who already paid for "News & Info Extra," Sling explained. New customers will need to pay $5 per package, however.
