At Ubisoft's press conference on Monday, the studio showed off a fresh look at Skull & Bones, a new pirate adventure borne from Assassin's Creed: Black Flag's terrific pirate gameplay. You can get a fresh look at the game above, as well as read below for more details about what to expect from the upcoming title.
The cinematic trailer is full of high-octane action, using the wonderful score from Guy Ritchie's (underrated) King Arthur. It looks gritty, intense, and incredibly deep—expanding upon what was first introduced by Black Flag.
Ubisoft also showed off an extended gameplay clip during the conference, which you can see below, showing how players can customize their ship, deceive enemies, and take over enemy ships.
The gameplay in Skull & Bones will be a lot deeper than it looks. Players will be able to coordinate attacks and strategize how they overtake strongholds, which will hold valuable loot.
The game seems to beautifully capture what pirate life was like. Crews shout out instruction, the ocean roars with intensity, and the weather changes dynamically, keeping players on their toes. The ship-to-ship battles look incredible, and looks to provide Black Flag fans with exactly what they want.
Here's the official description for Skull & Bones:
It is the Golden Age of Piracy. Renegade captains command the most powerful weapons on Earth: warships. You are a pirate captain who has refused the king's pardon and sailed from the Caribbean to the Indian Ocean, an untamed frontier full of lavish riches. However, these waters are also a battleground where far-reaching colonial empires, powerful trading corporations, and ruthless pirate gangs clash. In order to survive, you will have to build a lethal fleet, prey upon lucrative trade routes, and ally with other pirates in your endless struggle for supremacy.
Ubisoft said Skull & Bones will be available in 2019.
