Dark Forces 2

Following the release of a wave of classic Star Wars games on GOG.com this past Tuesday, the digital distribution site has announced a further six titles to add to the roster.

Star Wars: Empire at War Gold Pack, Star Wars Rogue Squadron 3D, and Star Wars Rebellion are all available now for $5.99 each. On top of these three titles, GOG also plans to add Star Wars: Republic Commando, Star Wars: Jedi Knight: Dark Forces II, and Star Wars: Starfighter on Jan. 27th.

Unlike a few other older Star Wars games, these are ones I can't comment on through direct experience. Rogue Squadron is a game I've spent a few hours on but only in the Nintendo 64 version. Star Wars: Jedi Knight: Dark Forces II had an excellent demo I tore to pieces back in the day, but I never got around to the final game. Star Wars: Republic Commando again was played on the Xbox version.

Still, it's nice to see that these older games are finding more and more homes through the digital channels rather than winding up lost under a pile of trademarks and copyrights. Steam, GOG, and the rest of you guys, keep fighting the good fight!
