It's funny how quickly a game can go from zero to 60 in terms of "want" and "need" in my mind. Shantae and the Pirate's Curse has managed to go from a game I would maybe get down the line to one I'll likely be downloading before the day's end today.

This 2D, Metroidvania-esque affair from WayForward is set to hit the Nintendo 3DS eShop today. It's been a labor of love for the developers, and it's the third game in a trilogy that most would consider a cult success.

Heck, our own Ron Duwell has been yammering on about this thing and its predecessors for months now.

Today we have the launch trailer for Shantae and the Pirate's Curse. That clip, which sits at the head of this post, and the collective critical agreement that this is indeed a fantastic gaming effort have all but solidified my decision to pick this game up.

Now, I just need $19.99 to pay for it and the time to play it. Whatever, these are problems for Future Joey to worry about. Living in the Now Joey doesn't care, he does what he wants.
