WayForward's sassy mascot, Shantae, wants you to be extra careful this summer and protect yourself from the increasingly difficult annual scorcher. Using scenes from her cult-classic Game Boy Color game, she demonstrates the importance of keeping cool and morphing into a wide variety of animals.
It's a shame I can't turn into a mermaid at will, or I might be able to keep just as cool.
Beyond all that, the best advice the half-genie can give is to just simply stay inside and play video games, preferably her video game since it has just launched for the Nintendo 3DS Virtual Console on the Nintendo eShop.
I fully intend to get reacquainted with the series on my long drives to the southern Delaware shore this August.
Check out Shantae on the Nintendo 3DS Virtual Console. It'll set you back only $5, an absolute steal given that it typically sells for $70 on Amazon. The original cartridge was published by Capcom back in the day, but WayForward is now self-publishing its beloved original IP.
The sequel, Shantae: Risky's Revenge, is also available to download as DSi Ware, and the third game in the series, Shantae and the Pirate's Curse, will bring her back for a third outing later this year.

Use a chess clock to keep track of move and play times
These chess clocks feature dual clocks for players to control their own timers, and loud alarms so everyone knows when time is up. These clocks can be used for other 2-person games, like checkers, that may benefit from a game timer.
