I just figured out why these Game of the Year releases are so important! I read the news about Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor  getting a Game of the Year Edition release, and I was trying to recall what my favorite game from 2014 was. Let alone that, I couldn’t even think of any games I liked in 2014! Games are so forgettable these days that we need to be reminded of what’s good a year later!

For the record, that was a bit of a joke. My favorite games from last year were Bayonetta 2, Shovel Knight, Persona Q, and Bravely Default, but yeah, Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor also ranked up there. It’s also the only game with a major publisher of that bunch, meaning it’s the only one getting a Game of the Year re-release.

This re-release will sell for $50 when it launches next week, and it includes both of the major expansions, The Lord of the Hunt and The Bright Lord, character skins, new runes, challenge modes, extra missions, and that ever important camera mode. Don’t want to play with game and forget about all of the glorious decapitations you’ll cause. Immortalize them in a picture!

Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor Game of the Year Edition will be released for the Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and PC on May 8. No PlayStation 3 or Xbox 360 version this time around. That ship has sailed to the Gray Havens.
