Transformer PrimeTo the delight of many, Asus has made good on its promise by releasing a bootloader unlocking tool for the Transformer Prime. The company on Wednesday made all the pertinent files and documentation available on its website, although Asus strongly warned installing the bootloader would void the original warranty.

“It is strongly advised that you avoid activating this App unless you fully understand and accept the risks that may arise,” Asus said. Like that’ll stop folks.

When Asus unleashed Android 4.0 for the quad-core tablet earlier this year, many owners salivated at the idea of having unconstrained access to the next-gen device. Only, Asus locked the bootloader with an 128 bit Encryption. In developer speak, this is “basically impossible to crack.”

Asus came around to understanding that open accessibility is a huge and thriving part of the Android community, so the company said it would offer an unlocking tool for the tablet. And, voila, it has arrived.

If you’ve been anxiously awaiting this day, thank Asus for keeping its word. Fair warning, though, if something happens to your device upon unlock, know that it’ll no longer be under warranty. Now if only Asus can get to releasing Ice Cream Sandwich for its original Transformer tablet.
