SEGA Genesis Classics on Switch will be the Largest Collection of Portable SEGA Games Ever

SEGA heard you loud and clear, Switch owners. After it was announced that the SEGA Genesis Classics bundle would only be coming to the PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One, a mini-revolt ensued within the Nintendo fanbase demanding the bundle, and not, they are primed to get it.

SEGA has confirmed that the bundle will be coming to the Switch this winter with both a physical and digital release.

Now, Switch owners demanding that every last stinking game come to their console is nothing new, but this is a special case in that many gamers bought the Switch specifically to be used as a portable retro gaming console. The 53 games in the SEGA Genesis Classics will make it the single largest bundle of classic SEGA games in history, nearly twice as large as the previous portable SEGA Genesis bundle, SEGA Genesis Collection on PSP.

At 53 games, surely most of the latest additions not found on the PSP bundle aren’t that great, right? Just a bunch of throwaway retro junk like Altered Beast and Golden Axe, right?

Well, no, you’re wrong! Many of the newest inclusions in this bundle are the exact games that portable gamers have been dreaming about playing on the go for quite some time. Games like:

Beyond Oasis

Dynamite Headdy

Streets of Rage 2

Landstalker: The Treasure of King Nole

Alien Soldier

Wonderboy in Monster World

and finally…

The entire Shining Force series!

Plus many others. These are not castaway games, these are the deep and beloved gems that often go overlooked when SEGA puts out a huge bundle like this. Not all is peachy since we lost the Ecco The Dolphin games in this bundle, but still, you won’t find a better place to get your portable retro SEGA fix.

Check out the whole list of games, both new to the bundle and old, below:

  • Alex Kidd in the Enchanted Castle
