When it first debuted, I wasn’t into Sea of Thieves from Rare. It looked like a very so-so experience that was looking to cash in on the tired pirate genre. Then E3 happened in June of this year, and I walked away with Sea of Thieves high on my list of hotly anticipated titles.

The new footage from Gamescom 2016 that’s just arrived further reinforces my current opinion. This game looks like it’ll be a blast with friends.

Keep in mind, this video is a collection of gameplay meant for b-roll, so it’s rather bland in the editing department.

The only bad news? Sea of Thieves doesn’t have a release date yet. The title will hit the Xbox One and PC platforms some time in 2017, as it’s currently listed, though we aren’t sure when. We’ll have more on the pirating adventure as it comes.
