March 11 will mark the return of Genndy Tartakovsky’s Samurai Jack, and to get fans prepared, an extended trailer has been released. It’s been fifty years since the events of season four and, as the trailer shows, poor Jack is not in a good place.
“50 years have passed, but I do not age,” Jack says. “Time has lost its effect on me. Yet, the suffering continues.”
Aku’s reign has destroyed every remaining Time Portal, stranding Jack in an apocalyptic future.
According to Tartakovsky, the show’s fifth season will conclude Jack’s journey and feature a more mature story.
Look out for it on Toonami
Since ending in 2004, Samurai Jack has become a cult hit, often cited as one of Cartoon Network’s best. There was originally supposed to be a film adaptation of the property but that never materialized. The show’s return next month will finally bring closure to the series.
Phil LaMarr will return to voice Samurai Jack, while Tartakovsky is set to executive produce.
