It’s been a while since Samsung launched a new smartwatch, but the company is expected to go all out with its next wearable device. We’ve heard a lot about the rumored “Orbis” already. Now, a fresh report claims to reveal even more details, including the new watch’s official name.
According to Sammobile, the company is gearing up to release the Gear A with 3G support and the ability to make calls from your wrist. Samsung will apparently also offer a standard model with Bluetooth but no cellular connection. We’re guessing this version will be cheaper, at least compared to the SIM-enabled watch.
Based on previous leaks, we’re expecting the Gear A to feature a circular display with a rotating bezel used to control the device. Samsung is also expected to stick with its in-house Tizen operating system over Android Wear. Based on the alleged name, we’re guessing the new smartwatch could feature a high-end design, similar to Samsung’s Galaxy A smartphone family.
Samsung is expected to announce the Gear A later this year, possibly at the IFA trade show in September, but we hope to learn more about the company’s next smartwatch before then.
