Samsung Swallows RIM

Earlier today, Jefferies analyst Peter Misek said that he believed Samsung was working with Research In Motion in regards to a possible BlackBerry 10 licensing deal. It's certainly a feasible proposition; we already know RIM will likely try to license its software and it's possible that Samsung wants an alternative to Android, Windows Phone and bada. Too bad Samsung already shot it down.

Here's where it started: "We believe Samsung is considering camping up its internal OS development efforts, licensing BB10, or buying RIM," Misek said. "We think any acquisition is unlikely until after BB10 launches."

Samsung responded to a request for comment from AllThingsD. "Samsung Electronics has not considered the acquisition of Research In Motion or licensing BB10," a spokesperson said.

Well, there you have it. It still leaves a window of opportunity if Samsung changes its mind, but for now it looks like RIM will need to pitch BlackBerry 10 elsewhere. Amazon, perhaps?
