Samsung sent an email to customers on Thursday alerting them of the impending shutdown of Samsung Wallet, an application that has been available to Samsung customers that allows them to store loyalty cards, credit card information and more.

Samsung said the service will shut down on June 30, the effective termination date, and the move suggests that Samsung Pay will launch shortly thereafter. Samsung Pay is the firm's new mobile payment system that works with the Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge, and allows users to take advantage of magnetic stripe and NFC-based payment systems.

Samsung said coupons inside of Samsung Wallet will no longer work after June 30, but that tickets and reservations will still be available through partner applications. "All your personal information will be handled in accordance with our privacy policy," the company added.

Wallet didn't seem particularly popular, and we hope this means that Samsung Pay will launch right around the same time it shuts down.
