Samsung just sent out invites for a press event in New York City set for August 13 where we expect it to introduce the Galaxy Note 5 and the Galaxy S6 Edge Plus, at least according to several rumors that have pinpointed an August announcement.

This is, after all, the time of year when it typically refreshes its Galaxy Note smartphone. In the past, however, Samsung has unveiled the new device during the IFA trade show in Berlin, though rumors have suggested it's trying to get the phone out of the door and into the hands of consumers ahead of Apple's iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus sometime in September. A new round smartwatch dubbed the Gear A is also rumored for the event.

The image above suggests our suspicions of a new smartphone are correct. It seems to be a device under some sort of shroud. The curved edges might suggest the larger Galaxy S6 Edge Plus, too. We'll leave the speculation up to you, but in the meantime be sure to check out our Galaxy Note 5: 5 things to expect from Samsung's next powerhouse post.
