Last week, Samsung started distributing an update in South Korea to patch a bug that resulted in some users noticing a “reddish tint” on their Galaxy S8’s display, and now the firm’s rolling out an identical upgrade in Europe.

The update itself weighs in at a little under 450MB and in addition to regulating the appearance of white tones to remove the red overlay, transports a couple of new options for the Adaptive Display screen mode.

Speaking to The Wall Street Journal, Samsung revealed that the issue isn’t hardware-related and not something every Galaxy S8 owner will experience, but if they’re not satisfied with the upgrade, they can apply for a replacement unit.

If the OTA isn’t ready for your handset, don’t panic

As is usually the case, the OTA is making the rounds in stages — so if it’s not ready for your handset just yet, don’t panic. It should arrive by the end of the week.
