samsung-galaxy-s-iiIt may not be available in the U.S. Yet, but that hasn't stopped Samsung from selling a whopping 5 million Galaxy S II handsets in the past 85 days. That number makes it the fastest selling Galaxy device to date (The original Galaxy S took 125 days to reach the 5 million mark).

The phone was originally launched in Korea on April 29, immediately followed by Japan and some European countries. The handset has been rumored to be coming to both AT&T and Sprint in the U.S. In the coming months, however, no official announcement has been made. Verizon announced today that its release of the phone will be 4G-capable. When the phone does arrive in the U.S. that 5 million number is likely to skyrocket pretty quickly.
