Samsung Galaxy Tab S 10.5 8

Samsung has never been one to shy away from the tablet market, but it's been a while since the company announced a new Android slate. Now it looks like the South Korean giant could be gearing up to launch an entirely new line of Galaxy Tab A devices.

SamMobile reports that the Galaxy Tab A and Tab A Plus will both come in 8-inch and 9.7-inch variants, and pack similar mid-range specs. The smaller models will allegedly offer a 1024 × 768-pixel displays, Snapdragon 410 processors, 4200mAh batteries, 5-megapixel rear cameras, 2-megapixel front-facing cameras and 16GB of storage. Meanwhile, the larger display model is expected to pack similar hardware but with a 6000mAh battery and a 1.2GHz Qualcomm APQ 8016 processor.

SamMobile said that the Galaxy Tab A Plus tablets will offer 2GB of RAM an S Pen, while the Galaxy Tab A version will offer 1.5GB of RAM and will lack an S Pen. The news outlet's sources don't offer much concerning the design, though the new tablets should be pretty thin at just 7.4 mm.

Unfortunately we don't know when Samsung will announce these tablets. It seems plausible it could happen during Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, but there's no indication that's in the cards.
