Samsung already makes the displays for smartphones, tablets, laptops, TVs and more. Now the company could put its screen technology to use in an entirely new way that could actually save lives.

The company recently unveiled a new concept called a “Safety Truck.” Basically, Samsung put a wireless camera on the front of a truck and placed four big monitors on the back. A livestream from the cameras is then displayed on the screens, making it possible for drivers to see what’s in front of the truck.

The goal is to eliminate car crashes caused when drivers try to pass a truck but can’t see what’s coming in front of it. Samsung’s setup essentially eliminates these blind spots. It even offers a night vision view.

Samsung actually built a prototype to test the idea. It worked, though the original truck is no longer operational. Now the company is partnering with local governments and other organizations to get these vehicles on the road.
