Samsung has allegedly increased the price of the mobile processor that it sells Apple for use in its iOS-based products, including the iPhone, iPad and iPod touch. Korea news outlet Chosun Ilbo said Monday that Samsung asked for a 20% increase in the price Apple typically pays for each chip. "Samsung Electronics recently asked Apple for a significant price raise in application processor (sic)," the paper said. "Apple first disapproved it, but finding no replacement supplier, it accepted."

Apple is slowly decreasing its reliance on Samsung. The firm is reportedly seeking to use Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Co (TSMC) as the sole provider of its 20nm processor for future quad-core chips, according to a report from early October.
