Samsung Galaxy XcoverFinally, an Android we can punt around, submerge in water, and pelt with mud! The Samsung Galaxy Xcover is the company’s first Android member of the rugged Xcover dynasty. Android 2.3, to be exact. In order to ward off physical assaults, the Samsung Galaxy Xcover is equipped with a tempered glass 3.65-inch scratch-resistant screen, and is able to live through a 1 meter deep bath for up to 30 minutes. The phone offers a 3.2-megapixel camera with LED flash that has an alter ego as a flashlight, and can race with HSDPA speeds of up to 7.2Mbps.

Unlike the Motorola Defy, the Samsung Xcover is an aquatic organism, making the phone the most advanced rugged model to date. It also sends shockwaves with an IP67 certified enclosure protects the unit against dust and dirt. Unfortunately, the Samsung Galaxy Xcover is only available in Germany as of October at the moment, so hopefully we’ll see its intimidating presence here in the States some day. We do know that the phone will offer GPS, Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, and Samsung’s Media Hub, but there’s no word on processor speed at the moment. The Samsung Galaxy Xcover is expected to ship in October in Germany.
