Galaxy Tab no Ice Cream Sandwich

If you're an owner of Samsung Galaxy S or Galaxy Tab, and you've anxiously been awaiting the arrival of Ice Cream Sandwich on your device … we've got some bad news for you.

Samsung posted a note to its Samsung Tomorrow blog (in Korean) that detailed why the Samsung Galaxy S and Samsung Galaxy Tab would not be receiving the Ice Cream Sandwich update.  The short version is that while the hardware may appear that it could handle it on paper, when you add in the loved/hated TouchWiz interface and other custom programs, there simply isn't enough RAM or room in the ROM for ICS.  This of course leads one to wonder if it's worth getting an Android device with a skin over the basic operating system, but that's a whole different argument.

Considering the Galaxy S and Galaxy Tab were two of the hottest products of 2010, it's kind of sad to see them so quickly outdated, but that seems to be the nature of the beast these days.

Are you disappointed that the Galaxy S and Galaxy Tab won't be receiving an ICS update?
