samsung galaxy j japan

Press photos of Samsung’s new Galaxy J smartphone leaked online over the weekend, revealing a 5-inch handset that reportedly packs a quad-core processor. The first pictures of the device come from Japanese blog RBMen, which got its hands on national carrier NTT DoCoMo‘s 2013-2014 winter and spring brochure. Samsung has yet to confirm the Galaxy J, but the device is expected to sell exclusively in Japan.

Based on RBMen’s leaked brochure, the Galaxy J will come equipped with a 2.2GHz Snapdragon 800 processor, a 5-inch FHD 1020 x 1080-pixel display, 2GB of RAM, 32GB of storage with microSD support, a 20.7-megapixel rear camera, a 2.2-megapixel secondary shooter, NFC, a 3,000mAh battery and run Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean. The device is also allegedly dust and water-resistant.

The Galaxy J’s design is somewhere in-between the Galaxy S4 and Galaxy Note 3, based on its rectangular shape and slightly rounded edges. The device appears to feature the same metallic band seen in Samsung’s latest smartphones, while the back panel appears to be made from soft-plastic like the S4, rather than the faux-leather seen in the Note 3. DoCoMo’s brochure also notes that the device comes in Coral Pink, Satin White and Lapis Blue variants.
