We still don’t know much about Samsung’s rumored smartwatch, the Galaxy Gear, but according to a new report the device may be ready for the spotlight. SamMobile reports that the wearable device will be unveiled at the Unpacked event scheduled for Sept. 4 in Berlin alongside the Galaxy Note III. SamMobile is often pretty accurate with its reporting, though it sometimes jumps the gun in regards to new product launches.
Based on a recent Samsung patent, it’s likely the company’s new smartwatch will be called the Galaxy Gear. The wearable technology will sync with your Galaxy smartphone, providing quick access to music, email, text messages, and other notifications. It’s possible it will support other Android devices, too. The device is also expected to feature a curved screen that may even implement the company’s flexible display technology, according to some reports.
We’re not sold on the news that Samsung will unveil the Galaxy Gear next month in Berlin. At this point the company has pretty much confirmed we’ll be seeing the Galaxy Note III at the Unpacked press event, but recent reports have indicated that the smartwatch is still in early development and probably won’t be ready to launch next month. Either way, TechnoBuffalo will be in Berlin for Samsung Unpacked to bring you live coverage of the event.
