Samsung's JK Shin with Galaxy S III

JK Shin, head of Samsung Mobile Communications, has confirmed that the Korean company will be launching a 4-inch Galaxy S III 'Mini' on October 11 in Germany. Shin revealed the news to reporters in Korea on Wednesday, but he didn't give away too much information regarding the new handset.

"We'll be launching a 4-inch Galaxy S III on the 11th in Germany," Shin said. "There's a lot of demand for a 4-inch screen device in Europe. Some call it an entry-level device, but we call it 'mini.'"

Shin also added that, despite the handset's smaller display, it will sport a "full form factor."

It'll be interested to see a full-featured Galaxy S III — that isn't an entry-level device — with a smaller 4-inch display. Samsung's high-end devices seem to have been focused on larger displays in recent years, leaving those with a desire for smaller Android devices stuck with entry-level options.

Are you looking forward to the Galaxy S III Mini?
