Samsung has confirmed that a production line flaw has compromised the water-resistance of some Galaxy S7 Active units. Its announcement comes after it was discovered that handsets were becoming unusable after being submerged in water.

Consumer Reports was first to bring this issue to light earlier this month when it put two Galaxy S7 Active handsets in water and found that both of them stopped working. It suggested the devices could have been defective, though it seemed an unlikely coincidence.

Shortly after the report, Samsung spoke out to backup its water-resistance claims for the device, and promised to replace any models that became damaged in water. “The Galaxy S7 Active passed rigorous tests to ensure IP68 certification for water resistance,” it said.

Now the South Korean company has confirmed that there really was a production issue.

“We discovered an isolated issue to a production line that exclusively manufacturers the Galaxy S7 Active,” Samsung said in a statement to CNET. “The issue has been resolved. We have received very few customer inquiries and any owner with water damage will receive a replacement.”

With IP68 certification, the Galaxy S7 Active should be able to withstand up to 30 minutes in up to five feet of water. That’s pretty deep, and allows you to take the handset in the bath, in the shower, and even in the pool.
