Saints Row IV is no longer just a sideshow on the grand video game scene. Publisher Deep Silver confirmed today that the open-world sandbox game cracked 1 million sales in the first week alone through both digital and retail releases. The figure puts the game as selling three times as many as Saints Row: The Third did when it released two years ago.
"We are incredibly happy of the reception for Saints Row 4 as a critical and now a commercial success," said Deep Silver CEO Klemens Kundratitz. "The development team at Volition is second-to-none as a driving creative force in the entertainment industry and we are very proud to have them as part of the Deep Silver family."
New presidential downloadable content also became available to celebrate. Face masks of George Washinton, Abraham Lincoln, Barrack Obama, and George W. Bush are all now available in the Presidential Pack through Steam and the PlayStation Network for $2.99. The Xbox Live versions will be downloadable tomorrow.
Koch Media, Deep Silver's parent company, purchased developer Volition from THQ for $22.3 million back during the bankruptcy auction on January 22nd. The investment has obviously paid of as Volition is now one of the best regarded sandbox studios on the market. Way to go guys!
