LG's mobile division has spent the last year or so focusing on smartphones, including the well-received Nexus 4, the Optimus G, the Optimus G Pro and the just-announced G2. Now the company may be shifting its focus towards tablets again. A new listing posted on Bluetooth Special Interest Group (SIG) suggests South Korean OEM may make good on earlier rumors it would release a new tablet in Q3.
The new listing on Bluetooth SIG doesn't offer much information, but lists two devices called the LG-V500 and LG-V507L, which are both described simply as mobile devices. This isn't much to go on, but in the past LG's tablets have fallen into the V-series so it seems likely the new listings refer to tablets as well.
We first heard whispers of a new LG tablet back in May, when munhwa.com reported that the South Korean company would follow up on the Optimus Pad with a new device, though details were extremely sparse. Last month these rumors got a boost when LG patented a suite of new G-branded devices including the GPad, G Watch, G Glass, G Link, G Band and G Hub at the Korean Intellectual Property Office (KIPO).
With the G2 launch underway, we're looking forward to hearing more about a new LG tablet in the near future.
