Kanji no Owari is an interesting idea, to say the least. This RPG title tasks players with learning how to read katakana, hiragana and kanji in order to battle enemies.

Here’s how they explain the game on the Greenlight page.

What is Kanji no Owari

“Kanji no Owari”, also known as “The Kanji’s End”, is a Japanese language learning game that helps the players in memorizing Hiragana, Katakana, and JLPT Kanji characters.

There are many great Japanese learning tools out there, and we focus on helping our users enhance their familiarization and comprehension of Japanese characters on sight.

The developers intend, if this thing is Greenlit, to make it so that players learn the two Japanese alphabets while also learning some essential kanji. I studied Japanese for three or four years. Learning the alphabets is easy. Those kanji? Still tough. This could help, sure, but what about writing them properly in terms of stroke order and shaping? Forget it!

Still, Kanji no Owari sounds interesting to me. You can snag a demo right now on Google Play if you have an Android device. The developers are working on getting an iPhone version up and running. If you like what you see, hit the source link below and Greenlight the project.
