The good news? We have a brand new pre-rendered trailer for Batman: Arkham Origins. It clocks in at more than five minutes in length, and it looks interesting.

The bad news? Confirmation has come from Wired that Kevin Conroy, who has played Batman since the debut of the animated series in 1992, will not be the main voice of the Caped Crusader in this upcoming game.

Here’s the blurb as it runs through Wired‘s writeup on Batman: Arkham Origins.

Roger Craig Smith, who voiced Ezio Auditore in the Assassin’s Creed games, is now the voice of Batman…

That’s it, then. While it seems Conroy is at least involved in the production of Batman: Arkham Origins, it appears that he’s not doing the voice work of the Dark Knight himself.

For me, Kevin Conroy will always be Batman. This seems like such an odd decision. Where do you folks stand?

Batman: Arkham Origins will ship for the Wii U, Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and PC platforms on October 25th, 2013.
