Rock Band 4 will be co-published by Mad Catz, the gaming peripheral company announced today. Previous Rock Band games were initially published by MTV. Mad Catz Interactive took that role over when Harmonix's relationship with MTV ended alongside the last generation of music games.

While Harmonix will handle the development and digital sales for the game, Mad Catz will be taking care of promotion, distribution and retail sales of both the game and the hardware. While old hardware will continue to be compatible with the game, Mad Catz is also developing "a new generation of Rock Band 4 wireless music game controllers," according to their press release.

Without MTV's games division in the mix, the game's eventual publisher was a question mark. Partnering with Mad Catz should help ensure Rock Band gets the floor space it needs in game stores when it releases this fall.

Rock Band 4 releases this fall for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.
