After years of waiting with bated breath, we not only have confirmation that Red Dead Redemption 2 is in development, we actually have video of it in motion. And it looks gorgeous. At least, what little of it there is.

The trailer clocks in at a short 68 seconds and is, more than anything, a glimpse of the game world itself. We see areas that look like the Tall Trees, Plains, and Hennigan’s Stead areas of the original map, including a very familiar looking oil field and, well, some really tall trees.

We get a brief look at the civilization in the game, and it looks like we can expect more populous cities.

Beyond that, though, we don’t get much. We’d been hoping to find out where in the Red Dead timeline this game takes place. Is it a sequel? A prequel? Something else entirely? We didn’t know before the trailer, and we still don’t know now. The voices in the trailer don’t seem to be familiar, though, for what it’s worth.

Red Dead Redemption 2 releases for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One next fall.
