Rockstar promised news about Red Dead Redemption 2 before the summer was over, and it delivered—sort of. Just a few hours before the fall officially arrives, the developer on Friday published a cryptic Tweet to promote an announcement set for Thursday, September 28 at 11 a.m. ET.

We don’t know if Rockstar is going to introduce a new trailer, release date, or what. The game was recently delayed until spring 2018, but perhaps Rockstar now has a more concrete idea of when it wants to release the game.

The developer has revealed very little about the upcoming title, which is thought to be a prequel to the 2010 classic. It’s unclear which character, if any, will return from the first game, but it’s a safe bet many will. Hopefully, that includes John Marston.

So far, Rockstar has released a moody trailer, along with several images from the game. But we have yet to see any gameplay, so expect next week’s announcement to feature the game actually in action.

Before Red Dead Redemption was released, Rockstar introduced a fantastic “Life in the West” series, which explained the game’s world and detailed gameplay elements. I suspect that’s what Rockstar is gearing up to unveil next week—at least, I hope.

Red Dead Redemption 2 is currently scheduled for a Spring 2018 release.
