In January, Razer made a big move into the ultrabook market with the Blade Stealth, a powerful workhorse that had both beauty and brains. Now, months after the Blade Stealth was introduced, Razer is back with a major update. If you’re looking to buy a laptop before you go back to school, the new Blade Stealth might be the one to beat.

Let me say upfront that everything you liked about the first model is returning, including the gorgeous design and individually backlit keyboard, which is powered by Razer Chroma. All the stuff you had issues with? Razer said it listened to fans and made the appropriate changes.

There will be five different options, depending on factors such as RAM, storage and screen resolution, with prices ranging from $999 up to $1,799. The cheapest model will come with a QHD screen, seventh generation Intel Core i7 chip, and 8GB of RAM; the other models will sport 16GB of RAM, doubling the original Stealth Blade. Both the $1,399 and $1,599 iterations essentially have the same specs (RAM, storage, process) but differ in price due to screen resolution—if you want a 4K display, you have to pay.

Below are specs for the $1,799 model; all of the five options are largely the same save for screen resolution and storage space; the cheapest model also has 8GB of RAM, whereas the other four have 16GB of RAM.

  • Price: $1,799
  • Color: Black
  • Display: 4K (3840 x 2160)
  • Storage: 1TB
  • Memory: 16GB
  • Processor: 7th Gen Intel Core i7-7500U (2.5 GHZ / 3.5 GHz)
  • Graphics: Intel HD Graphics 620

In addition, Razer is also upgrading the Blade, its larger, more powerful gaming-focused laptop. The design and overall size is still the same, but the guts have been upgraded, as has the screen. The latest model, it’s worth noting, still sports Intel sixth generation Core i7 processor.

Perhaps the biggest upgrade—or downgrade, depending on your view—is a new 14-inch Full HD matte option, which Razer said was highly requested by users. Below are the specs for the top of the line model with 14-inch Full HD matte display; you can also purchase the model with a 14-inch QHD screen.

  • Price: $2,399
  • Color: Black
  • Display: 14-inch Full HD matte
  • Storage: 1TB
  • Memory: 16GB
  • Processor: 6th Gen Intel Core i7-6700HQ (2.6 GHz / 3.5 GHz)
  • Graphics: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1060

The Razer Blade has gone on to become one of the company’s most beloved laptops, and the latest update offers the best balance of power, design and price.

The Razer Blade Stealth is available now, while pre-orders have been opened up for the more powerful Blade, which is expected to begin shipping in October.
