There have been so many comic book movie announcements over the past few months that we almost forgot about the full length Ratchet & Clank movie. But just as the beloved franchise was fading from our memory, the movie’s first trailer has been released, and it looks exactly like the game. In a good way! The game has oft been praised as one of the prettiest out there, and the movie looks no different. The only difference is that you won’t actually get to play this one, which is a bummer.

The movie’s trailer pretty much lays out the plot, so check it out to get a feel for what the movie is all about. In truth, it’s less about the actual movie and more about the humor, which is mostly aimed at adults, but there’s plenty there to entertain the kiddies. Lombax Ratchet has his wry wit and adolescent spirit, while Clank is robotic (he’s a robot) and by the book—yet still full of plenty of emotion.

An origin story that retells the events of the original Ratchet & Clank, depicting how Ratchet and Clank met each other as they attempt to save the Solana Galaxy from being destroyed by Chairman Drek and the Blarg. However, the film will expand on various plot points in greater detail, and will also incorporate some elements from later series entries, such as the introduction of Doctor Nefarious and the Galactic Rangers.

The two wind up teaming up with Captain Quark, and go on a galaxy-trotting quest to stop Doctor Nefarious, who, judging by his name, is a nefarious fellow. Compared to the slate of animated movies set to come out over the next few years, this is easily the most unique, and should be a good show for fans new and old alike. Ratchet & Clank is lighthearted, fun, with that little bit of sarcasm. We can’t wait to check it out

Ratchet & Clank is scheduled to hit theaters on April 29, 2016.
