Rage Crimson Elite Level 4Bethesda has been busy as of late with getting new content ready for Fallout: New Vegas, but that isn't stopping them from getting work done on Rage.

Set in the not-too-distant future, an asteroid impacted the Earth and and turned it into a wasteland.  Once the dust finally settles, the world as we knew it is gone and is filled with clans who rage battle against one another as well as mutants that roam the desolate areas.

Rage has been in development for some time now and taking a look at the gameplay trailer, you can see why.  While the gaming landscape is filled with FPS (first-person shooters) style games, this one is looking to throw in everything but the kitchen sink.  Need to get into an area where you won't fit?  Send in the remote controlled truck.  (I do wonder how vulnerable that leaves your body while it's gone, so you best make sure the room is cleared before you do so)  Add in the spider robot you can send out ahead of you and the automated sentry guns, and you can see this title is looking to change up the formula a bit.

The game is due for release on PS3, Xbox 360 and PCs in North America on Sept. 13th, and across Europe on Sept. 16th.

What do you think?  Does Rage add enough new elements to the FPS formula, or have you had your fill of the genre?
