Qualcomm on Tuesday officially unveiled a trio of new mobile chipsets, which the company said are destined for high- to mid-tier devices. The latest chips include the Snapdragon 730, 730G, and 665.

Qualcomm said these latest chips are "designed to exceed customer expectations on delivering exciting experiences in artificial intelligence (AI), gaming, camera, and performance."

Basically, you get technology previously exclusive to Qualcomm's 8 series to devices that are more affordable. These chips will be available beginning mid-2019.

Snapdragon 730

On the AI font, Qualcomm's new chips provide 2x the power of its predecessor, with a blend of dedicated and programmable AI acceleration.

As for the camera, Qualcomm's latest chips feature a dedicated Computer Vision (CV) ISP, which the company claims offers 4x overall power savings in Computer Vision. That means you can capture 4K HDR in Portrait Mode, utilize a triple-camera setup, and take photos in the HEIF format, so you can better take advantage of your phone's storage.

Qualcomm's new chips also feature improved graphics that gobble up less battery. And speaking of performance, Qualcomm's technology will net you up to 35% performance uplift for each core, according to the company. The Snapdragon 730 also supports cellular download speeds up to 800 Mbps and is Wi-Fi 6-ready.

Snapdragon 730G

The Snapdragon 730G gets you the benefits of the 730 but with even better graphics. Qualcomm claims the 730G features 15% faster graphics rendering over the Snapdragon 730, thanks to its enhanced Adreno 618 GPU.

Qualcomm said it worked closely with some of the top developers to optimize the Snapdragon 730G for some of the industry's best games. The chip also supports true HDR gaming, for richer and more vibrant graphics.

Additionally, the Snapdragon 730G supports Cinemagraph, lower power voice activation, and HD super slow-mo at 960fps.

Snapdragon 665

Like the Snapdragon 730, the 665 chip is focused on areas of gaming, camera, performance, and AI, making it one of the most powerful chips in the mid-tier market.

The Snapdragon 665 features the third generation Qualcomm AI Engine, for up to 2x faster AI on-device processing. Meanwhile, the device's on-device AI processing features intuitive scene recognition, auto adjustments, zero shutter lag, and resolutions up to 48MP.

The chip also features improved graphics performance for gaming and an energy efficient platform, so you should expect excellent battery life even with more power.
