Now it’s easier than ever to have your whole family on Project Fi.
The wireless service is welcoming parents to add children under 13 years old as Google figured out a way for their activity to be monitored and controlled. Both the Project Fi app and the Family Link app will be necessary. The two have been around for quite a bit, but now they’re collaborating since Google wants everyone in the family to be on a single group plan.
While the Project Fi app allows parents to oversee data usage, the Family Link app is for monitoring app usage and applying content filters.
Another benefit here is Project Fi’s discount for group plans. Google’s wireless service knocks $5 from the Fi Basics fee for each additional line. Your own Fi Basics fee will be $20 per month, but everyone else’s will be $15. Then the amount of data used will decide how much the rest of monthly bill is.
With a bunch of new phones getting added to the lineup, you won’t need to shell out a fortune for your child to join Project Fi. The Moto G6, LG G7, and LG V35 are all compatible on the network. Motorola’s Moto G6 is a particularly appealing choice for children since it’s just $200.
Project Fi takes advantage of existing networks built by T-Mobile, Sprint, and U.S. Cellular. With three networks to latch onto, you and your children shouldn’t be left without any signal anywhere. The wireless service also works overseas at no extra cost.
The new feature is rolling out now, so you don’t have to wait to sign a child up for Project Fi and add him/her to your group plan.
