To celebrate the official launch of Google’s Nexus 5X, the search giant is offering up “instant invite” access to Project Fi. The service typically requires an invite to try it out—and even then you have to wait quite a while to get in—but for the next 24 hours you can get in instantly — provided you live in a supported zip code. Not a bad way to raise awareness for your MVNO service now that two brand new Android phones are out.

Both new Nexus phones work with the service, as expected, as does last year’s Nexus 6. You can actually buy a Nexus 5X or Nexus 6P with monthly payments through Project Fi, making Google’s affordable phones even easier on your wallet. For example, the Nexus 5X starts at $379 for the 16GB model, or you can pay just $15.79 per month for 24 months.

Project Fi, meanwhile, starts at $20 per month for voice and text, and charges $10 per gigabyte after that. You’re only charged for the data you use, however.

We actually got a Project Fi SIM with our Nexus 5X from Google, so we’ll be putting the service through its paces as we continue with our review process. If you want to see what a combo of Sprint and T-Mobile is like, Fi is not a bad way to go, especially if you’re itching to ditch your current carrier.
