Porsche is going electric. That’s not new news, but what is is the official car it will to go electric with. That will be the Mission E, unveiled at the Frankfurt Motor Show, and it looks absolutely stunning.
The Mission E concept was first announced in 2015, but it has been updated with a new version that looks more like the production model that will hit the road in 2019. There are not enough adjectives in the world the describe how amazing it looks. It truly is a stunner that immediately challenges anything Tesla makes for best looking EV.
Through and through, this is a Porsche. The chassis carries the classic Porsche long hood and swooping rear. Even so, there’s something very refreshing and visionary about the new concept design. There’s certainly a futuristic flair to the Mission E, including the hyper-stylized wheels and peering quad-laser headlights, but the angular sculpted body brings it all together.
It is an impressive car.
Porsche says the production model will come with a 300-mile range battery capable of charging 350kWh fast-charging. That means the Mission E will charge 80 percent in only 15 minutes. That’s a tall claim, but if Porsche comes through, it will make its EV that much more appealing.
Its four-wheel all-electric powertrain will speed up to 60 miles per hour in 3.5 seconds, topping off at 155 miles per hour.
The Mission E will start around $80,000, with production anticipated for 2019. There will likely be different variants similar to the current lines Porsche offers.
If you been thinking of going green, and have nearly six-figures you’ve been thinking of unloading, the Mission E is calling your name.
