Nintendo announced this morning that Pokkén Tournament will hit the Wii U on March 18, 2016.

I didn’t really think I wanted another fighting game for the Wii U after Super Smash Bros. released, but here I am looking forward to Pokkén Tournament. This title mashes Pokémon with a unique take on Tekken mechanics.

Currently, Pokkén Tournament is eating up Yen in Japanese arcades. It’s been known for a long time that it would hit home consoles, and today’s news from Nintendo simply puts a solid launch date on the title.

The game will sell for $59.99, of course, but Nintendo also announced an amiibo card system for the game.

People that buy the first production run version of the game will also receive a special Shadow Mewtwo amiibo card, which can be tapped to the Wii U GamePad controller to unlock the Shadow Mewtwo playable character in the game.

Shadow Mewtwo? Shadow Mewtwo.

Will you be picking up Pokkén Tournament?
