PlayStation TV Bundle

Sony has officially dropped the North American release date of the PlayStation TV. The system will sell with a DualShock 3 and a copy of The LEGO Movie: Videogame for $139.99, or you can nab just the system itself for $99.99. It hits retail on Oct. 14, 2014.

There's also a limited time bundle at Walmart that features the $139.99 edition listed above with a copy of Sly Cooper: Thieves in Time.

If you're unsure of what the PlayStation TV is, here's a simple way to think about it. It's a PS Vita without a screen, basically. You can hook it up to your TV, surf the PlayStation Store on the device, plug in Vita games and use a DualShock 3 to control it. You can even use the device to remote play your PlayStation 4, if your system and your bedroom, for instance, are in different parts of the house.

Of course, not all games work on the system at launch. The compatibility list is huge and offers most titles, though not everything from the existing library will work. Here's the rundown from Sony.

Honestly, if you don't own a PS Vita, this would be a great way to experience games like Persona 4 Golden. The only thing really holding the system back, in my opinion, is the current catalogue of PS Vita offerings. It's not as good as it should be, to be quite frank. Hopefully that changes with time.

The PlayStation TV will sell at $99.99 starting on Oct. 14. Any buyers?
