Even as Platinum Games continues to create new, interesting properties like Bayonetta, Wonderful 101, and Scalebound, they’re developing a reputation for making licensed games in a fast, efficient manner that appeals directly to the license’s fanbase.

While the Legend of Korra game was generally regarded as pretty disappointing, their 2015 title Transformers Devastation showed off Platinum’s continued competence with action and a willingness by publisher Activision to allow for something a bit old-school rather than a strict adherence to the versions we know from the hugely successful Transformers films of the last decade.

Now, right along with the upcoming release of the second Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles movie, screenshots of Platinum’s take on the fearsome foursome have surfaced via PureXbox. Like Transformers, this game looks to call back to the original Eastman and Laird portrayal of the turtles, with flair from the cartoon that took them from indie comic to worldwide phenomenon.

Information about the game, including an Australian classification and some achievements, have leaked previously, and the achievements seem to hint at something more open than Platinum’s previous games. Either way, I’m hopeful that we’ll see the sort of game the Turtles have always deserved.

There’s no release date yet, but the game looks to be coming to Xbox One and Xbox 360, with PlayStation platforms and PC likely as well.
