Google had a lot riding on the Pixel 2 XL, and it answered the call with an impressive flagship. It’s a similar dilemma LG faced this summer when it introduced the V30. Each is now a fantastic Android device worth considering, but which one is the better buy?
Both the Pixel 2 XL and V30 are strikingly similar devices, sporting 6-inch QHD OLED bezel-less displays (with 18:9 aspect ratio), Snapdragon 835 processor, 4GB of RAM and a fingerprint scanner on the rear. But the similarities end there.
LG equipped the V30 with a sleek glass on glass design fused together by stainless steel band that allows for wireless charging and a dual camera that’s a combination of a 16MP main sensor with f/1.6 aperture and a 13MP wide-angle shooter that takes impressive wide photos and video.
Google maintained the similar aluminum body as the previous Pixel, but added a squeezable frame for easier access for Google Assistant, front-facing dual stereo speakers and stuck with the just one camera, albeit a fantastic one.
It’s too early to make a definitive call on which device is better; after all, the Pixel 2 XL won’t go on sale until November 19. But there are key differences that will sway interested purchasers right away. Is a device with wireless charging more important than one that has the best version of Android? That’s a question buyers will have to answer when deciding between these two devices.
