Stop me if you’ve heard this before: Pixel orders are being delayed. It happened to Google last year, but apparently it didn’t solve production issues because it is now delaying Pixel 2 preorders by as much as a month.
First spotted by Android Police, customers who preordered the white model of the Pixel 2 are receiving emails that their orders are now being delayed by up to a month. Many of these users took to Reddit to voice their displeasure with the delay. Orders that were originally scheduled to be shipped out by October 23 have been pushed back to November 23.
Luckily, the issue seems to be relegated to the 64GB variant of the Pixel 2, but still, this is not the best news for potential Pixel 2 customers.
It won’t help that aside from Black, every other color for the Pixel 2 (and Pixel 2 XL) is already backordered by weeks or months. Google is trying to quell the anger by offering a free Live Case (worth $40) to all customers affected by the delay.
This is just the latest stumble in Google’s quest to create its own hardware. It went through various issues with the first Pixel last year. The phone was unveiled and went on sale in October, yet it was difficult to find, especially the XL variant.
Here’s hoping Google can figure it out before customers completely forget about the Pixel 2 because they can’t buy it.
