- Director Pete Docter, who also directed Up and Inside Out, will helm the project.
Disney has long reserved the Pixar movie output to (roughly) one per year, but it's making a exception for 2020. Pixar on Wednesday announced a new project titled Soul that will come out on June 19, 2020.
Details for the new movie are very limited except a one sentence plot synopsis released by Disney. Here's what the synopsis says:
Pixar will take you on a journey from the streets of New York City to the cosmic realms to discover the answers to life's most important questions.
Soul will arrive in theaters just three months after another Pixar original film reaches theaters, Onward. We know much more information about that project, like who's starring, and there's even a full trailer that was released last month.
About the only thing we know about Soul is that it will be directed by Pete Docter, who helmed two of the best Pixar movies ever, Up and Inside Out. As we learn more information about the newest Pixar project, we'll be sure to pass it along.
