Persona 4

Would it be going out on a limb to say that the Persona series is the reigning king of the JRPG world? It might not have the sales figures of its rivals, but when it comes to critical reception and general excitement from its fanbase, there really is no second place for this series.

Fans have been anxiously awaiting a proper installment in the lineup ever since Persona 4 was released in 2008, and hope seemed to have faded for a current generation game, until now.

Publisher Atlus has just launched a new teaser site dedicated to an unannounced game. No other information is provided yet besides the date and time, Nov. 24 at 8 p.m., and a list of several Japanese cities. The only other hints are three crossed out boxes and P-Studio’s logo in the bottom corner.

I’ve been a fan of the Persona series ever since Persona 3 gave it a small revival into relevancy. I would love to dive through the games again, but when each entry takes close to 100 hours to complete, who really has the time anymore? A new game in the series is just what I need to rediscover what made the older two so great, be it an HD PlayStation 3 game or just a quality 3DS game. Keep your fingers crossed for Persona 5.

Keep your eyes peeled on the site for the next few months. You never know what those boxes might reveal in time. Definitely check back in on Nov. 24 for what could be the most exciting JRPG in years.
