At last, one of the most requested games for a PlayStation 2 Classics release on PSN is going to happen. Shin Megami Tensei: Persona 4 has been rated by the ESRB for the PlayStation 3, indicating an incoming release for the console.
Many believed that the game would never see a release on the home console since it is also a marquis title used to promote the PS Vita. However, Atlus has seen fit to answer the calls of fans, as it often does, and give them another way of playing this masterpiece RPG.
I am pumped now that I finally have a chance to finish the game. I was playing Persona 4 when my PlayStation 2 finally bit the dust, and I haven't been able to go back since the PlayStation 3 doesn't come equipped with backwards compatibility. What makes this decision hard though is that I was already planning to pick up Persona 4 Golden once I pick up my PS Vita Slim this spring.
Do I go with a full console release or the popular mobile version? I'm pretty sure I would much rather take Persona 4 on the go like the rest of my games these days, but this news has me thinking twice about my decision. Nothing like good timing, Atlus.
This week also saw the release of Shin Megami Tensei: Devil Summoner: Raidou Kuzunoha vs. The Soulless Army on the PlayStation 3, hopefully meaning that Atlus is making a solid final push to get all its games on the reliable console during its final days.
