Good news Pebble fans! The company’s Time smartwatch is set to ship out next week on May 27 for customers who backed the device on Kickstarter.

Pebble actually announced the news on Kickstarter earlier this week. Since then, however, the company has been hit with rumors that it’s struggling to “stay afloat.” Despite raising $18 million in its recent campaign, the smartwatch-maker may need even more cash to keep the lights on. Unfortunately, it looks like most investors aren’t willing to take a bet on Pebble now that the Apple Watch has officially entered the wearables market.

Thankfully, it looks like any financial issues the company may or may not have won’t affect early shipments of the Pebble Time. The new device features a completely overhauled design, with a color e-ink display, a built-in microphone and a new Timeline operating system. We can’t wait to get our hands on this watch.

Even if this model does ship though, that doesn’t mean Pebble will survive in the long run. The company could still get squeezed out by Apple, Google, Samsung and other established competitors. In that scenario the Pebble Time may be the startup’s final device, making it a true collector’s item. Hopefully that’s not the case though, since we have a feeling Pebble still has plenty left to offer.
