If co-op shooters are your thing, then the PlayStation 3 is the place to be this week. Sony is offering PlayStation Plus subscribers a free copy of Payday 2 through the Instant Game Collection.
After a humble original game put the series on the map, Payday 2 exploded in popularity forcing the developer and publisher to put out a wave of retail releases. The game became profitable off of pre-orders, and despite the retail releases, over 80 percent of sales were sold digitally through Steam, Xbox Live and PlayStation Network.
So, don’t feel like you are stealing from Overkill Software, Starbreeze Studios, and 505 Games for taking this game for free. They already made their money back before the game was even released. Instead, use this to help spread the word and get more people involved.
I haven’t played either of the Payday games, so perhaps this is the best chance to join in on the fun. I know its a co-op first-person shooter, but why can’t I stop thinking about Keanu Reeves surfing?
Look for Payday 2 on the PlayStation Store when it updates on Wednesday.
